A Level Results Day: A Haul of Golden Results for Hayesfield Mixed Sixth Form

Just as Team GB are celebrating a record year of results at the Olympics, students and teachers at Hayesfield Mixed Sixth Form are also celebrating yet another set of record breaking A-Level results. A truly outstanding set of results sees students receiving one third of their graded entries at the highest A and A* standard with nearly two thirds of all grades awarded at A* to B.

Headteacher, Emma Yates said, “We are, once again, delighted and proud of our students’ achievements. Hayesfield Mixed Sixth Form offers an unique experience that fully prepares students for success at A Levels and for life beyond school. Students receive expert help and guidance on post-18 destinations and gain confidence from the expert knowledge and one-to-one support they receive from their teachers and tutor. Students’ hard work and talent, with the support of our committed staff have led to a tremendous set of results.”

Over one-third of Hayesfield Sixth Formers will take up places at highly selective Russell Group universities places compared with the 7% average for the South West of England. Students who have secured prestigious university places include Annabel Melvin and Alice McDonald who will both be studying History – Annabel at Oxford University and Alice at London School of Economics.

A number of exceptional performances came from Alice McDonald 4A*s (History at London School of Economics), Clara Whiteley 3A*s and 1A* in EPQ (Biomedical Sciences at Manchester), Sydney Marshall 3A*s and 1A plus an A* in EPQ ( Physics with Astrophysics), Isabella Patterson 3A*s (Medicine at Bristol), Melissa May 2A*s, 1A, 1C plus an A* in EPQ (Languages in Vienna), Annabel Melvin 2A*s, 1A and 1B at AS (History at Oxford), Nina Miklos 2A*s and 1A ( Food Science at Leeds), Hannah Phillips 2A*s and 1A (Biochemistry with French at Manchester) and Asher Flanagan, 1A* and 2As (Psychology at Bristol).

Significant achievements are awarded to Olivia Mahlberg, Jack Flemons and Rory Haresnape, who are all off to study courses at Universities, having made significant progress during their two years at Hayesfield Mixed Sixth Form.

Director of Hayesfield Mixed Sixth Form, Catherine Trueman added “Our average points score per student continue to rise year on year – students have risen to our challenges and high expectations! We are also particularly pleased to see that our BTEC Public Services students achieve 100% Distinction* (equivalent to A* grade at A Level) reflecting their dedication and commitment. Hayesfield is an inclusive Sixth Form, we have students who aim to study at Oxbridge, overseas or secure high-quality apprenticeships. We are absolutely delighted to see that all of our students fulfilled their potential. Once again, a great year for Hayesfield.”
